- How can Facial Diagnosis help me?
- Facial Diagnosis is an investigative naturopathic consultation. It is not a "diagnosis" in the modern clinical sense of this word. It is a way of showing you how your genetic predispositions, your upbringing, lifestyle and choices, stress levels, and nutrition have made you who you are today and the way you look today. It can give you ideas of what you need to change to achieve a higher level of vitality and health. It goes beyond skin analysis, to connect all systems of your body with the features on your face.
- What is involved in a Facial Diagnosis consultation?
- Your visit to a Facial Diagnosis consultant will mainly consist of a conversation during which the consultant will also observe your face and make notes and sometimes draw diagrams. You may be asked questions about your lifestyle, levels of physical activity, or whether you have had any accidents, surgeries and diseases, as well as whether you suffer from any phobias or food intolerances. The therapist may inquire about your sleep patterns, stress levels, how you respond to stress, whether your bowel habits are regular and so on. The therapist may gently touch your face from time to time, to assess whether there is puffiness, may be look at you through a small magnifying glass to see better small wrinkles on the skin and so on. Afterwards the therapist will advise you of the findings and recommend simple steps that will help you achieve better health. You will take home a summary sheet, containing the recommendations.
- How would I benefit from Facial Diagnosis?
- Virtually anyone who is interested in their own health would definitely benefit from this consultation. This is what our clients say: "I was given a gift voucher for a Facial Diagnosis session. Although I did not have a clue about what I was going to have done, I came out amazed at what the therapists told me about my insides. I had never met them before so they knew nothing about me and went into great detail about my adrenal glands and the fact that I never shut down and rest, my digestive system and not to mention my sleep deprivation. These were just a few of the things they mentioned, but they were so precise that I really couldn't’t believe it, they gave me some advice on what I could do to help myself and I came away thinking about how I was going to make some changes to my life to improve my body. I can’t wait to have another one done once I’ve introduced those changes into my life to see if I can make a difference to my body and its functioning."
- Are Facial Diagnosis and Face Mapping the same thing?
- Face Mapping focuses mainly on the skin, and on the ways to improve your skin by using facial products in a correct way, and in correct combinations. Facial Diagnosis helps you to look at your respiratory system, reproductive system, digestive system and excretory system through the features on your face, as well as see for yourself how stress affects your endocrine system, your liver, your heart and your stomach. This is what another client says: "I have been to a face mapping before but I came away thinking about my skin and what products I needed to buy to improve my skin, this way I’m finding out what I can do about the inside of my body which will reflect in my skin anyway! True Beauty! Thank you for allowing me to have this treatment and find out so much about myself which I tend to take for granted without realising it!"
- How long will the consultation last and what can I expect to pay for it?
- The consultation will last between 20 and 45 minutes, and you can expect to pay between 25 and 35 pounds.
- How often should I come back?
- It all depends on what happens during the first consultation. For some conditions, like skin eruptions, eczema, psoriasis, or for the digestive conditions or respiratory weaknesses the therapist may recommend massage, lymph drainage, nutritional adjustments, acupuncture, colon hydrotherapy or exercise, among other things. At least a few months of implementing these changes are needed. Then come to see your consultant again, and see what has changed, and whether there is more room for improvement.
- Can the therapist diagnose medical conditions, like IBS, enteritis or cancer?
- The therapist can identify strengths and weaknesses in your systems - respiratory, digestive, excretory, endocrine or reproductive. If you have concerns about any of those you will need to see a medical practitioner, who would be able to take tests and establish a medical diagnosis. For example, if the therapist has identified weaknesses in the small intestine, and you suffer from unexplained symptoms - heaviness after a meal, reflux, nausea, then you should really put two and two together and see a gastroenterologist. On the other hand, you should also listen to your therapist's suggestions about the possible connection between your symptoms and your diet or stress levels, and implement the lifestyle changes that the therapist may recommend.
- How reliable is Facial Diagnosis?
- It is fairly reliable, because we use good professional literature in our training, that has passed the test of time, and teach our students to observe and listen well. All of them are also practitioners of other complementary health modalities - reflexology, colon hydrotherapy, Reiki, massage, nutrition etc, so their knowledge base and critical thinking skills also add value to your consultation.
- What other investigative naturopathic treatments work along the same lines as Facial Diagnosis?
- Reflexology - a therapy that helps rebalance your body systems through the feet; Kinesiology, that reads organs through muscular imbalances; Colon Hydrotherapy (Colonic Irrigation) which helps you read the signs of your health while your bowel is being cleansed of waste matter; Live Blood View, which enables you to see how your blood reflects your stress, hydration level, energy, stability or imbalances of the digestive system etc; Iridology which reads your health through your eyes and so on. However Facial Diagnosis is the easiest visual tool for you as a client, and an easy one to use on yourself.
- Are there any contraindications to Facial Diagnosis?
- There are no contraindications to this consultation.
- Is there anything I need to do before the Facial Diagnosis consultation?
- There is nothing special you need to do, however you will need to remove your makeup if you usually wear it; as well as contact lenses. Please advise the practitioner if you have had any cosmetic procedures done, that could have changed the original features of your face. These procedures may include both facial surgeries and Botox, Restylene etc.
